Spring 2023 Commencement Showcases Increasing Diversity Among UNC Graduates

April 28, 2023 — The University of Northern Colorado is hosting its spring commencement ceremonies May 5-6, inside the Bank of Colorado Arena. February 4, 2022 — Since graduating from UNC, Neyla Pekarek '09, has lived on a stage. For eight years she traveled across the world performing in front of massive crowds as a member of the highly successful folk-rock band, The Lumineers. Now she's entering a new stage in her career debuting the world premiere of her new musical Rattlesnake Kate at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

Governor Appoints New UNC Board of Trustees Member

January 6, 2022 — On Dec. 21, Gov. Jared Polis announced the appointment of University of Northern Colorado alumna Annette Martinez to UNC’s Board of Trustees. Her four-year term is pending confirmation by the Colorado General Assembly.

Dan Satriana, UNC 's General Counsel, Announces Retirement

October 15, 2021 — Dan Satriana, vice president, general counsel and secretary to UNC’s Board of Trustees, announced today that he will be retiring this winter. Satriana has been at UNC for 11 years, serving as the university’s attorney and primary source of legal advice.

Colorado’s Free Application Day Extended to Three Days

October 13, 2021 — There are a few changes to the fourth annual Colorado Free Application Day. This year, it has expanded to three days instead of just one starting on Tuesday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021. During that time, the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) is waiving application fees for undergraduate applicants submitted by Colorado residents.

August 9, 2021 — This August, the Bears are back to school in a big way. There are many on-campus events planned, and UNC has partnered with Greeley to paint the town blue and gold, with “This is Bear Country” signs appearing in yards and at businesses throughout the area.

UNC Appoints Interim Provost for 2021-22 Academic Year

June 17, 2021 — University of Northern Colorado President Andy Feinstein announced on June 17 that Lisa Vollendorf, Ph.D., has been appointed as interim provost for the 2021-22 academic year. Vollendorf brings 26 years of higher education experience to UNC and has held numerous leadership roles, including provost, dean, department chair and Academic Senate chair. She will start her new role on July 1, 2021.

April 29, 2019 — In an effort to prevent thefts, the UNC Police Department regularly removes bicycles left in the racks after spring semester. This year will be after May 5.

Ceremony Formally Introduces UNC’s 13th President

April 12, 2019 — A traditional ceremony April 12 officially welcomed Andy Feinstein as the 13th president of the 130-year-old institution.During the Presidential Investiture, Feinstein spoke in the new performance hall at the Campus Commons. The 600-member audience included UNC trustees, former UNC presidents, presidents and former presidents of colleges and universities across the country, and local and state officials.

UNC Spring Commencement Ceremonies, May 3-4

April 11, 2019 — The University of Northern Colorado will hold the 129th spring commencement ceremonies Friday, May 3, at Bank of Colorado Arena in Butler-Hancock Athletic Center, and Saturday, May 4, at Nottingham Field, with about 1,600 expected graduates.

April 8, 2019 — An anti-abortion demonstration Monday and Tuesday staged by a group unaffiliated with UNC will include visual displays on the lawn west of McKee Hall.

March 21, 2019 — UNC welcomed Angie Paccione, executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, for a campus visit Wednesday. She joined President Andy Feinstein on a tour and met students, faculty and staff at cultural centers and in academic areas.
