Aims Community College and the University of Northern Colorado will unveil a joint-program initiative, Aims2UNC, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Aims Greeley Campus' Practice Fields, north of the Cornerstone Building (5401 W. 20th Street in Greeley). CEO/President of Aims Community College Leah L. Bornstein, Ph.D., and UNC President Andy Feinstein, Ph.D., will be featured speakers. They will kick off the two institutions’ partnership, as a response to Colorado’s statewide goal calling for 66% of residents to earn a college credential by 2025.

Aims2UNC, which begins this fall, will streamline and simplify the path for students to transition directly to UNC after earning an associate’s at Aims. Enhanced support will be provided by an Aims2UNC transition advisor assigned to each student enrolled in the new program. These advisors help Aims students prepare for admission to UNC as students navigate specific program requirements.

The Aims2UNC program development has spanned several months of collaboration by administrators, staff and faculty at both institutions. Fall 2019 marks the inaugural cohort of students in the Aims2UNC program, which is set to expand in Fall 2020.

Benefits for Aims2UNC students:

  • Specialized academic and transition coaching to help students reach their goals
  • Support and guidance in meeting UNC admission requirements
  • Guaranteed admission to UNC once accepted into the Aim2UNC program
  • No application fee at UNC
  • Access to UNC services including campus housing and events, such as free admission into UNC athletic events
  • Streamlined transfer of courses and information between Aims and UNC
