Course Add Procedure

Full-semester courses

You may add courses using URSA through the 5th day (add deadline) of the semester for full-semester courses. Tuition and fees are adjusted accordingly.

Instructors may, at their discretion, authorize you to add their course during days 6-10.

  • You may access the add request form on the Office of the Registrar's web site. This form will only be available on the website during days 6-10.
  • The form requires your signature and the signature of the instructor.
  • Please fax it to 970-351-1870, scan and email to registrar@unco.edu or bring it to our office, Carter Hall 3002.
  • At that time we will register you for the course.

After day 10, you may submit a Petition to Late Add a Course to the Office of the Registrar for consideration. This petition will only be approved if there were extenuating circumstances beyond your control that kept you from adhering to the published deadlines. You must have been attending on or before the drop deadline to be considered. The Registrar has the final approval/denial of the course(s).

  • You must complete a Petition to Late Add a Course and submit it along with a written statement describing the circumstances that kept you from adhering to the deadline.
  • The form must have all required signatures.
  • The form may be faxed to 970-351-1870, scan and emailed to registrar@unco.edu or brought by the Office of the Registrar, Carter Hall 3002.

In order to use the COF stipend, you must be registered for a course by the add deadline. There may be legitimate administrative reasons that may allow COF eligibility. UNC will adhere to the Colorado Department of Higher Education College Opportunity Fund guidelines.

Course Audit

If you audit a course, there is no need to complete assignments or exams, but you are expected to attend class. If you do not attend class you may be removed from the roster. If you successfully complete the class, you will be given a grade of "NC" (no credit). Tuition and fees are charged for audited courses and the course is not eligible for the COF stipend.

If you are registered for a course that you would like to audit, you must contact the Office of the Registrar before the add deadline to change your registration status to an audit. You may not change the status for any course, including audit courses, after the add deadline for a given term.
