The University of Northern Colorado will hold Fall Commencement on December 9-10, 2022.

Prepare for the Ceremonies

Please keep these deadlines in mind if you plan to participate in the ceremonies.

Apply for graduation and appear in the digital ceremony program.

Pick up regalia or place last-minute orders with Herff-Jones at Campus Recreation Center Auxiliary Gym

Fall Commencement Ceremonies

Doors open one hour prior to each ceremony for guest seating. Graduates should arrive for check in and lineup at least 45 minutes prior to the ceremony start.

Graduate Check-in & Lineup

All graduates should arrive at least 45 minutes before their ceremony start time to pick up their reader card and line up for the procession. Please leave personal items with family or friends. 

The procession leaves the lineup area before the ceremony start time. 

Friday Doctoral Ceremony
Doctoral candidates will line up in the Rehearsal Room behind the Performance Hall. Staff and signage will provide directions.

Saturday Ceremonies
Bachelor's, Master's and Specialist's candidates will line up in the Recreation Center southeast of Bank of Colorado Arena.

Guest Information

UNC parking lots around campus are open and complimentary to the public during Commencement weekend. Parking permits are not required. Guests are asked to use official university parking lots and not park in private residential areas near campus. Campus Parking Map

There are a number of accessible parking spaces reserved for vehicles that display the appropriate state-issued hang tags or license plates.

Recommended parking lots for Friday: Lot C, with overflow into Lots B and E.

Recommended parking for Saturday: Lots M, L and Y, with overflow into Lots B, D, and E.

Doors open one hour prior to each ceremony and tickets are not required to attend the ceremonies. Seating will be first come, first served. Accessible seating is available for all ceremonies.

Cap Decoration

You may decorate your cap however you like as long as it does not include anything inappropriate or prevent others from participating in the ceremony.


Each graduate has a portrait taken in front of a green screen at the side of the stage and a photo taken on the stage with your diploma cover or during hooding. You will receive an email when your proofs are ready and you can choose whether to purchase photos at that point.

Walking in a Future Ceremony

We know how special it is to cross the commencement stage, so the university is providing
the opportunity for graduates to cross the stage in a ceremony that may differ from their graduation date.

Tell the Alumni Association you’d like walk in a later ceremony and they’ll coordinate the details.
