    Michener Library Study Rooms

    Reserve a Study Room in Michener Library

    Study rooms are available in multiple configurations and locations in Michener Library. There are several rooms equipped with computer equipment, video equipment, or whiteboards that accommodate 8-12 people. These may be reserved online. Check out keys from the main desk, 1st floor.

    There are smaller study rooms for 1-2 people on the 2nd floor, available for use with no advance reservations.

    Only students may reserve study space, but faculty and staff may check out rooms if available. Call 970-351-2671 for more information.

    Michener Recording Room

    The Michener Recording Room is available for all your audio and video recording needs. Located on the 2nd floor of Michener Library (Michener 217), students, faculty, and staff can reserve the room for up to 4 hours a day.

    Audio Recording

    The audio recording set up includes a Yeti microphone with a stand, shock mount, and pop filter. You’ll need a laptop with a USB connection and Digital Audio Workstation software (Audacity, GarageBand, Adobe Audition, etc.) to save and edit your recordings. Library laptops have Audacity software.

    Video Recording

    The video recording set up includes white and green photography backgrounds, 2 LimoStudio 500 LED photography lights, and 2 600 Watt Softbox photography lights. There’s also a 60” camera tripod (Manfrotto base with thumb screw leg locks and 3130head). Bring your own camera or check out one of ours.

  • Computer Resources 

    Most library computers require UNC authentication. Public access computers are available on the 1st floor of Michener for non-UNC patrons. Printing in Michener Library requires a UNC account or a Public Bear Print Card. Public Bear Print Cards can be purchased at the Information & Services desk. See the Computer Use Policy for information on appropriate use of the Libraries' computers.

    Desktop Computers

    Desktop computers are available on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. Michener Library has over 100 computers, both PCs and Macs.


    Laptops and MacBooks are available for 4-hour checkout from the Main Desk on the 1st floor to UNC students for use in the library.


    Black & white printing: Available on the 1st and 2nd floors of Michener for 8¢ per page.

    Color printing: Available on the 1st floor of Michener for 45¢ per page.


    Scanners are available on the 1st and 2nd floors of Michener. Use of the scanners is free.


    Wireless internet access is available throughout the library for UNC faculty, staff, and students, as well as for guests. Get information about connecting to WiFi.

    Reserve a Colorado State Parks Pass

    Check out a Colorado State Parks Pass at the library! Colorado State Parks and Wildlife provides these State Park passes and family activity backpacks through the Check Out Colorado State Parks Program. This Program seeks to encourage and allow Colorado residents of all ages to visit State Parks, enjoy and explore nature, and engage in healthy, fun activities.
