Accessibility Statement

The University of Northern Colorado is committed to making our website and online services accessible to everyone. We work to ensure our digital content is easy to use and meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the State of Colorado Technology Accessibility Rules.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we continuously improve our website and online tools so all students, employees, and visitors have equal access to information and services.

What We Are Doing

To support accessibility across UNC’s digital platforms, we:

  • Add meaningful alternative text to images
  • Design pages that work with keyboard navigation
  • Use clear and consistent HTML to support screen readers
  • Regularly scan our website for issues using tools such as Acquia Optimize
  • Support accessible course content through the UDOIT tool in Canvas
  • Provide training and resources to help campus create accessible documents, emails, and online content
  • Follow purchasing rules that require new technology to meet accessibility standards

College of Osteopathic Medicine

The University of Northern Colorado College of Osteopathic Medicine welcomed its inaugural class in July 2026. All online course materials were developed in Canvas with accessibility and usability incorporated throughout the design process, in alignment with the university’s digital accessibility standards and Colorado HB21-1110.

Course materials have been designed using accessible practices to support a broad range of learners, including individuals with color blindness and other visual differences. Accessibility will remain an ongoing priority as course content is reviewed, updated, and expanded.

As with all accredited colleges of osteopathic medicine, some instructional materials include visual clinical content that students must be able to interpret as part of the essential technical standards required for medical education. These standards reflect the core competencies necessary for physician training and are independent of the College’s commitment to providing accessible digital learning materials.
