 Department Structure

The Police Department is organized into two main divisions: Operations and Services. The Operations Division includes our Patrol section and the Community Training and Engagement unit. This is the division that community members interact with most often. The Services Division focuses on behind-the-scenes work. It includes the Investigations section, Communications and Records Sections, and the Evidence unit. Together, these divisions ensure that both public-facing services and essential internal functions are handled effectively.

UNC Police Employment

Because job opportunities can change quickly, this website does not list current openings. For the most up-to-date information on full-time employment, please visit the UNC Human Resources website. For student jobs, check the UNC Handshake platform, where on-campus and part-time opportunities are regularly posted.

Command Staff

The Command Staff plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the general law enforcement and public safety program at the University, including uniformed patrol, investigations, crime prevention, emergency management, security functions, communications and records management, and overall operations of the Department.
