Such cutting-edge practices have attracted attention - most recently by the Colorado Mammoth, which will donate 50 percent of ticket sales from its game March 8.
UNC alumnus Jose Martinez, who teaches economics and social studies at Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, is one of a handful of teachers from around the country presented with a 2013 Milken Educator Award, also known as "The Oscar of Education."
