About Studying Voice

In the voice studio, you’ll focus on your voice in applied private lessons with dedicated faculty, have plenty of chances to perform, gain a broader understanding of music in your academic classes and get the chance to dive into electives like music business or recording techniques. You’ll be prepared to go further in your career as a modern musician.

Build a strong musical foundation that will prepare you to perform and/or teach with our Bachelor of Music in Performance and Bachelor of Music Education degrees. Or explore your passion for music in a more flexible way with our Bachelor of Arts degrees in Latinx Music, Culture and Expression, and Music Business and Recording Arts.

We invite middle school singers to come to campus and work with guest clinicians to hone their voice development and prepare for a culminating evening concert.

UNC Opera Theatre prepares you for a career in opera through professional-quality productions and specialized classes. You’ll develop as a singer or director, cultivate your skills as an educator and bring opera to diverse audiences.

Our students get the chance to travel around the world. UNC Choirs recently performed the iconic Carmina Burana at Carnegie Hall in New York City with 90 UNC choir students, around 60 UNC choir alumni, several Colorado friends of UNC choirs, a professional orchestra (The New England Symphonic Ensemble) and a guest children’s choir (ChildrenSong of New Jersey).
