Explore Beyond the Classroom
Beyond the Classroom: Real Experience. Real Impact.
At the College of Natural and Health Sciences (NHS), learning doesn’t stop when class ends—it expands. Through research, internships, and hands-on programs, you’ll take what you learn in lectures and apply it in real-world settings. Whether you’re working in a lab, interning in the community, or joining a summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), you’ll gain practical skills, explore your passions, and build a résumé that stands out.
Looking for support to get started? NHS offers resources to guide you—from the Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Works to Handshake for internship listings. You can even take SCI 298: Preparing for Success in Research and Internships, a course that helps you find opportunities, write strong applications, and prepare for success. And for students in Kinesiology and related majors, the KiND–Campus Recreation Co-Op offers paid, for-credit experience right here on campus.
Going beyond the classroom helps you grow academically, professionally, and personally. No matter your major, there’s a place for you to get involved, make connections, and start shaping your future—starting now.
