This award is intended for international students new to UNC. Recipients are selected on their merit and the awards are renewable to students maintaining good academic standing. Duration of this award will be the time required for the recipient to complete his/her undergraduate studies, a maximum of eight semesters.
- Applicant must be applying to UNC as a new undergraduate and attending Northern Colorado for the first time
- Applicant must apply for admission to UNC and be accepted as a degree-seeking, tuition-paying student
- Applicant must submit a TOEFL score of 520 pbt, 190 cbt, or 70, ibt or another approved assessment of English Language Proficiency
- Applicant’s gpa must be a minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, based on grades through fall semester before enrollment
- Recipients shall be selected by the International Scholarship Committee
- One of the three awards available yearly must go to a Taiwanese applicant if there is one
- Not eligible: exchange students, government / employer sponsored students, students in special short-term non-degree programs, Intensive English Program (IEP) students
- 50% of each year’s award will be applied to the recipient’s UNC bill fall semester and 50% to the spring semester bill
This award is given in the name of UNC’s long-time Provost and supporter of international education, Dr. Allen Huang, and his wife, Lily. The award is presented to a continuing international graduate or undergraduate student who has shown exceptional leadership in promoting understanding between cultures as well as exceptional academic achievement while at UNC.
This award honors Anna C. Petteys who, after graduation from UNC in 1943 became a lecturer, politician, newspaper woman and world traveler and promoter of global Education. She was active in the United Nations and a friend of Madame Chiang-Kai-Shek.
- Applicant may be studying at UNC at either graduate or undergraduate level
- Applicant must show a cumulative gpa of no less than 3.0
- This recipient shall be selected by the International Scholarship Committee
- The amount of the award will vary according to the endowment’s earnings
This award is intended for students from groups under-represented at UNC in disciplines and degree levels that will be identified from time to time. Factors considered are race and ethnicity, gender, disability, and national origin. Contact the UNC Graduate School for more details.
Awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate international student who has demonstrated high achievement in his/her academic program and dedication to his/her field of study.
Awarded to a full time undergraduate or graduate international student who promotes cultural diversity and understanding through leadership in cross-cultural activities and organizations on campus.
