Student Advising and Registration

Incoming Freshman

New first-year, first time students will sign-up for one of several major-based group advising/registration virtual sessions in June, July, or August. Instructions for connecting with your advisor can be found in their Admissions portal.  Students and parents will receive detailed instructions via texts, emails, as well as,  some personal outreach from Admissions Counselors.

Advising for Transfer & Nontraditional Students

Transfer students will be prompted to schedule virtual 1:1 advising appointments. Instructions for connecting with your advisor can be found in your Admissions portal.  Both students and parents will receive detailed instructions via texts, emails,  as well as, some personal outreach from Admissions Counselors.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation goes side-by-side with academic advising and course registration. While the advising session that you’re scheduling will prepare you to register for classes, New Student Orientation’s videos and virtual sessions will give you all the insider information you need to transition smoothly to UNC and make the most of student services, clubs and organizations, fitness and wellness, and more. You’ll also connect with current and fellow incoming Bears. Watch for emails with more information about registering for a New Student Orientation session in June, July, or August and mark your calendars for UNC New Student Days: Thursday, August 19th-Sunday, August 22nd.
