Strategic Plan

Rowing, Not Drifting 2030 brings to life our vision for the university and takes shape in the form of our vision statement, five vision elements, and 2030 outcomes that serve as the foundation in support of and in service to UNC students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community. It guides the work of our five phases over the next decade, as well as the implementation of our supporting key actions and tactics.

Employee Perks

Tuition Grants

Employees and their dependents are eligible for tuition grants to help pay for the cost of tuition.

The tuition waiver for faculty and staff covers standard tuition and fees. Employees are eligible for credit hours allowed are based on annualized FTE not to exceed nine (9) per academic year.

The employee tuition waiver allows one to take the following courses:

  • Credit courses which are part of the University of Northern Colorado curriculum.
  • Grants can be applied to “for-credit” classes that fall under the Extended Studies program, which may include online and alternative scheduled classes.
  • Classes offered at AIMS Community College
  • Credit courses offered through the Reciprocal Study Privilege Benefit available at Colorado State University (CSU) which does not include CSU Global.

The grant covers a portion of the standard tuition at UNC based on the employee’s hire date and FTE. This benefit is available to spouses and dependent children under the age of 25 .

Commuter Services

UNC has a free campus bike program that is offered through the Department of Campus Recreation. Through this program you can rent a bike for free with your student ID for a week at a time. The campus rec center is offering this program to offer an affordable and environmentally sustainable alternative to driving on campus.

The Boomerang Shuttle provides on campus transportation free of charge.

Your Bear ID also lets you ride all around town on the Greeley Evans Transit buses without additional costs.

Campus Discounts

There are discount services offered across campus for businesses that are part of the UNC community.

BenefitHub delivers everyday discounts and benefits to all UNC employees.

Participating Bear Biz businesses are proud supporters of UNC and provide discounted products and services specifically to the UNC Community.

The Campus Recreation Center is available to faculty and staff at discounted membership rates. The Campus Recreation Center provides facilities, activities and services for every ability level. In addition to membership and access to the facilities, employees can rent gear from Outdoor Pursuits or take part in a group fitness class.

Shared Governance

UNC believes in the power of joint responsibility for effective governance. We aim to ensure all voices are heard and considered during the decision making process. UNC has three membership groups for employees to actively participate in shared governance.

PASC advises UNC on matters relevant to professional staff throughout our campus community.

The Classified Staff Council acts as the united voice of UNC’s classified staff.

Faculty Senate serves as the delegate assembly of the voting faculty at the UNC.

Professional Development

Every employee contributes unique talents to the university and is encouraged to continue to develop and grow as an employee and as an individual.

UNC faculty, staff, GA/TA, and student employees now have access to LinkedIn Learning, which provides a customized learning experience featuring instructional content relevant to your professional interests and goals.

The UNITE series gives the UNC community the opportunity to begin or continue conversations in relation to a broad range of identities. The UNITE program is made possible in part thanks to the generous donations of WeldWerks Brewing Co.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness

As a UNC employee, you may qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) — a program that incentivizes college graduates who work in the public sector. UNC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit qualifying employer.
