As I reflect with the spring semester now behind us, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the tremendous efforts our students, faculty, and staff put forward to make it through a full academic year during a pandemic.

Last month, I shared with mixed emotions that Dr. Katrina Rodriguez, Vice President for Student Affairs, will be leaving UNC after 22 years of service.

As we wind down the spring semester, I am mindful that the fall semester is just around the corner.

This afternoon a jury in Minneapolis found Derek Chauvin guilty on all three charges in the murder of George Floyd.

As it has been previously communicated, we will be holding a Budget Town Hall with the university community on Tuesday, April 20 from 10:00 a.m. - Noon.

It is our sincere regret to inform you that the n-word was discovered written in large chalk letters on campus in the breezeway at McKee Hall.

We want to thank the many individuals who have reached out to us to share their affirmations of our university’s values of inclusion and respect over the course of the last day.

As we approach the final months of FY21 and prepare for FY22, I am writing to provide an update on the university’s financial health and ongoing budget work across the university.

Today is National Employee Appreciation Day and I am filled with gratitude to be President of such a great institution.
