Program Overview

Do you love food and have a passion for helping others, locally or around the world? Or maybe you are a good communicator who enjoys working with people and is interested in science. Then the field of nutritional science may be a good fit for you.

Nutrition-related health issues impact all ages and stages. In our Nutrition program, you’ll explore nutritional biology, food science, and nutrition across the life span. You will learn how food, metabolism, nutrients and health relate to each other.

Discover how food fuels performance, heals communities and transforms lives. From sports nutrition to community health programs to nutrition education, you’ll gain the knowledge and hands-on experience to make a real difference.

Feed Your Passion for Health and Wellness

Want to specialize? Dive deeper into food service and management skills, preparing for leadership roles in hospitals, schools, corporate wellness programs, or anywhere people need expert nutritional guidance. You’ll be ready for careers in the medical field, personal training, physical therapy, public health, and more.

In the BS in Nutrition program, you take courses in nutrition and the natural and health sciences as well as written communication, mathematics,  arts and humanities, history, social and behavioral sciences, multicultural studies and international studies.

With a Nutrition minor, you’ll explore human nutrition, biochemistry and physiology. You’ll also study nutrition across different life stages. You’ll graduate with the knowledge you need to make a real difference in people’s lives.

A Nutrition minor is also a great option for anyone planning to attend graduate school in health fields. This includes medical school, sports medicine, physical therapy, and public health.

The Nutrition minor includes three core nutrition courses, one chemistry or biochemistry course and six electives.
