The HSS Advising Center is here to help you succeed in college and beyond. We work with faculty, staff, and campus resources to make sure you have the guidance, tools, and support you need to reach your goals.

First-Year Student?
You’ll meet your advisor and register for classes during New Student Orientation.
Transfer Student?
You can meet with an advisor and register for classes before Transfer Orientation.
Continuing Student?
You can find your assigned academic advisor(s) in Degree Works.
Get Ready to Meet Your Advisor
Before your first advising appointment, make sure you’ve completed a few important steps. This helps your advisor give you the best support possible!
For advising information on minors and certificate programs, email hss.advising@unco.edu
To-do before your meeting:
- Submit your official high school and/or college transcripts (including those from dual- or concurrent-enrollment)
- Send your AP, IB and/or CLEP scores test scores (if you have them)
- Complete any placement exams
- Upload your immunization records in the UNC Admissions Portal
- Are you currently taking classes? Email your advisor a list of those courses
