Ready to Lead? Join the President’s Leadership Program! 

In the President’s Leadership Program (PLP), you will take courses in leadership, earn a certificate, earn a scholarship, and strengthen your community at UNC and beyond! 

PLP offers a 2–3 year journey where you’ll grow your skills, build connections with other leaders on campus, and make a real impact on campus and in your community. 

With PLP, leadership isn’t about a title or privilege—it’s about contribution, teamwork, and creating change. And the best part? You’ll receive a $3,000 scholarship each year to support your journey.

PLP is more than classes and workshops. It’s an experience designed to help you to:

Explore leadership in real life. From small teams to large campus projects, you’ll learn how to inspire and guide others. 

Build connections that last. Your PLP cohort will become a support system, while mentors and community partners open doors across UNC and Colorado. 

Grow as a person and a professional. Every workshop, project, and mentoring session adds a new tool to your leadership toolkit. 

Leadership here isn’t just local—it’s Colorado-wide. Through our connection with the Colorado Leadership Alliance (CLA), you’ll gain access to statewide leadership events, networks, and resources that go beyond UNC.

What You’ll Experience in PLP

PLP is a place to learn by doing, grow by connecting, and lead by example. From the moment you join, you’re part of a community of leaders. You will:
Two PLP mentors host a workshop.

Take engaging leadership courses like LEAD 100, 200, and 492 that mix theory with hands-on practice and earn a certificate.

A mentor gives a PLP presentation.

Participate in interactive workshops every semester, exploring topics like teamwork, ethics, and community impact.

Join campus or community organizations, turning leadership into action.

Receive mentorship from a peer mentor in your first year, and from a professional or community mentor in your second.

Eligibility and How to Apply

Are You a Fit for PLP? 

We’re looking for students who are: 

  • Entering their second year at UNC in Fall 2025. 
  • Committed to completing leadership courses and experiences over 2 years. 
  • Maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher. 
  • Excited to work with others, try new challenges, and make a difference. 

 If that sounds like you, PLP is your stage.

How to Apply 

Applying is simple, but the program is selective. Here’s what you’ll need: 

  1. A recommendation letter from someone who knows your leadership potential. 
  2. Four short-answer questions about: 
    • Why PLP excites you 
    • How you stay motivated academically 
    • Your teamwork and leadership experiences 
    • Leaders who inspire you 
  3. Submit by March 2, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
