Plan Enrollment

It is a policy of the UNC Board of Trustees that all Undergraduate students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours and all Graduate students enrolled in 6 or more credit hours, are required to have health insurance. This is to ensure that health care costs will not interfere with your academic goals.  Undergraduate students will automatically be enrolled in the Student Health Insurance when they register for 9 or more credits and Graduate students will automatically be enrolled when they register for 6 or more credits. The premium will be added to your bill automatically. If you waive the school insurance plan you will see a credit on your bill each semester.

If you waive the school insurance and wish to re-enroll at a later time you may do so by contacting the Insurance Office. Premium amounts will not be pro-rated for re-enrollment in the plan.
