Program Overview
Do you picture yourself breaking big news? Or working behind the scenes to keep the show running?
Majoring in Journalism means gaining experience to ask the right questions and learn the technical skills you need for a career in news, podcasting, radio and more.
You’ll learn how to write, record, edit, publish and produce content for print, broadcast and online media outlets. You can work in news, sports, politics, public relations and many other storytelling areas across a wide variety of media platforms.
Take core classes in subjects including News Production and Media Law, then use your Journalism elective credits to specialize in the skills you want to learn. Elective classes include studying social media campaigns, documentary production and the impact of mass media.
Your 50 required major credits are flexible with your 15 credits of Journalism electives.
A four-year plan helps you see what it would look like to graduate in four years with a degree in Journalism.
Courses are subject to availability. Students must consult with their major advisor to receive information on any additional graduation requirements and course sequence guidance.
