UNC Parking Services
University of Northern Colorado parking rules and regulations are enforced year-round. Signs posted at parking lot entrances indicate hours of enforcement and types of permits required for parking in that lot. UNC’s Parking lots require a permit 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Service spaces, ADA spaces and fire lanes are enforced 24/7.

Campus Parking Updates
B Lot Closure
Parking lot B will remain closed for the duration of construction for the College of Osteopathic Medicine building activities with a projected reopening date of Fall 2026. While B lot is closed, alternative nearby parking can be found in lots A, C, D, L, and Y.
Accessible Parking
To qualify for accessible parking on campus, individuals must display a disability placard or plate attained from a government motor vehicle department. The plate or placard must be displayed and belong to the driver. They will also need to possess a UNC parking permit, or pay via our Passport mobile parking app.
Anyone who has paid for campus parking and who displays a disability placard or plate can park in any campus lot, in regular or accessible spaces. This means that students with a disability placard or plate can park in staff lots with a student permit if they possess a disability placard or plate.
Whether the disability is permanent or temporary, individuals must apply and be approved for a disability placard through the state of Colorado or through another state. UNC does not have the authority to grant individuals the ability to park in accessible spaces and does not provide disability placards or permits.
The department of motor vehicles website addresses qualifying criteria, durations of impairments, the application process, and more.
Campus visitors who have a disability placard or plate may park in any accessible or regular space and either pay for parking via the Passport mobile parking app, or attain a permit from the Parking Services office. Passport signs are located throughout student campus lots. If you would like to use Passport but need to park in a staff lot (E, F, KW) you can contact our office for assistance.
We have single space accessible meters in lots J and KW that accept payment via coin or card. There is a two-hour limit to use a meter space.

All Faculty/Staff permits must be purchased by credit or debit card. The 2018 Tax Cut and Jobs Act disallowed payroll deductions for parking permits along with other qualified transportation fringe benefits.
Faculty/Staff have the option of paying for their permit annually or monthly. When purchasing a monthly permit, a $11 set up fee will be applied at time of purchase and your card will be charged monthly on the 15th.
If we find monthly permits with a delinquent balance, the permit will be disabled and you will be responsible for any citations received while the permit is deactivated. Once the balance is paid in full and we have been notified, the permit will be reactivated.
After your permit has been shipped, you will not be able to change your permit order, so please evaluate your permit needs closely before you request a permit. Exchanging your permit for a different type will cost $10.
If you enter the incorrect vehicle information, please contact Parking Services with the correct information and we will be able to update it in our system.
All permits will be mailed to the address you enter; please make sure you enter the most accessible mailing address. Permits will not be available for pick up in the Parking Services office. If you do not receive your permit three weeks after purchasing, please contact Parking Services.
Permits are expected to be delivered 8-21 days from purchase. While you wait for your permit to arrive, please display the three week temporary permit that has been emailed to you on your dashboard. If after the 21st day you have not received your permit, please contact Parking Services.
Students, employees, and visitors have the ability to pay and appeal citations online at unco.thepermitstore.com. If you have questions about a citation you have received, please contact Parking Services.
Most permit types can be returned for a refund.
Employees can return a permit at any point throughout the year. Refund amounts will be based on the purchase and return dates. The permit must be received by Parking Services by the 14th in order to not be charged for that month.
Students can return a permit for a credit on their student bill. Return deadlines are October 31st for Fall permits, March 31st for Academic permits, May 31st for Annual permits, and June 30th for Summer permits.
If you return a permit to purchase another permit type, a $10 exchange fee will be applied.
