Student Clubs

College isn’t only about classes—it’s about community. Nearly every department in NHS has student clubs where you can dive deeper into your interests, meet people who share your passions, and make your UNC experience unforgettable. We have Honor’s Societies too. Whether you want to sharpen your leadership skills, explore your field outside the classroom, or just have fun with friends, clubs are the perfect way to grow, get involved, and build connections that last long after graduation.

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) at the University of Northern Colorado represents and supports the university’s 2,300 graduate students. It manages the largest pool of research and conference grant funding, reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. Beyond funding, the GSA enhances graduate student well-being through social events, professional development, campus involvement, and community partnerships.

The Chemistry Club (ACS Northern Colorado Student Affiliate) is an active campus organization that promotes chemistry through inclusive activities, study sessions, picnics, and outreach events. They sell goggles and ACS Study Guides to fund their efforts. Recognized by the ACS, the club is known for enhancing chemistry awareness, enjoyment, and engagement among students and the community.

TriBeta is built upon fostering an appreciation for biological research by allowing students to fund projects, present at regional and national conferences, and support their personal development as undergraduate researchers.

TriBeta is also built upon service, scholarship and academic achievement. Students must show and maintain academic excellence in order to participate in the Tribeta organization.

This student group supports graduate and certificate students in public health by fostering community, promoting diversity, and encouraging volunteerism in Northern Colorado. It also represents UNC on the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) Student Leadership Team. Additionally, the group enriches the UNC experience through structured athletics, leadership development, fiscal management, conflict resolution, and regional/national representation.

Earth Science Club is all about exploring what makes our planet such a beautiful and fascinating place! Encompassing many different fields, Earth Science Club’s goal is to facilitate passion and to provide a space for all those with interests in Earth’s natural systems!

The Future STEM Teachers Club at the University of Northern Colorado is an inclusive and dynamic organization committed to building a strong, supportive community for aspiring STEM educators. Our goal is to empower future teachers with the resources and experiences necessary to become advocates for STEM education, promoting innovation, critical thinking, and curiosity in their classrooms. We provide opportunities for professional development, practical workshops, and mentorship that connects educational theory and hands-on teaching practice. By fostering collaboration among peers, connecting with seasoned educators, and engaging in real-world classroom experiences, we ensure our members are well-equipped to inspire and nurture the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers. Our club is a space where future educators can share ideas, explore new teaching methods, and build the confidence they need to succeed in today’s ever-evolving educational landscape.

Health Track Scholars aims to support Pre-Health and STEM students with professional progression by providing volunteer, shadowing, and teaching opportunities for students. As well as professional exam resources and study nights. HOSA gives students a chance to learn more about their future path within their degree and future careers. Providing the ability for students to ask questions, take time to study their course material with experienced students, and more.

The goals of the SACNAS-UNC chapter are to provide regional and Local support for students for mentoring, academic success, personal networking, and social community. SACNAS-UNC members can benefit from the following opportunities

  • Attending and/or presenting scientific research at the SACNAS national conference
  • Participating in fun, social events where diversity in STEM is celebrated
  • Professional development workshops to complement your academic career and resume
  • Networking opportunities with other members of SACNAS regional and national chapters
  • Community support from students and members from traditionally under-represented identities

SPS aims to further students’ interests in physics and astronomy through workshops, mini-lectures, and social activities. As research is a large part of the physics community, an additional goal of the club is to help assist students on their research journey. The club meets once a week with opportunities to gain leadership experience.

The Student Academy of Audiology is an organization for graduate and undergraduate students that promotes lifelong involvement in the field of audiology. This organization provides services, information, education, representation, and promotes advocacy and philanthropy for young professionals pursuing Audiology.

The Student Government Association (SGA) is a governing body dedicated to serving the students of UNC. It is composed of 9 Executive Branch Members and 25 senators (5 from each class and 1 from each college at UNC). Members of other areas of campus also sit on SGA including representatives from the Professional Administrative Staff Council, Faculty Senate, Classified Staff Council, and Graduate Student Association.

At the Student Nutrition and Dietetics Association, we are passionate about nutrition, health, and our fellow students! We highly recommend that any and all Nutrition and Dietetics majors and minors be a part of this club, but ALL students regardless of major/minor are encouraged to join! The SNDA is focused on professional development, community building, and volunteering in nutrition-related areas.

UNC PE Club has built a community through movement. We strive to promote quality health and physical education. We help support our members to develop their leadership skills, professional development opportunities, networking and attend conferences. Our club is involved in various volunteer opportunities and fundraising events within the community. UNC PE Club supports future professionals to enhance and advocate for health and physical education.

Use Your Voice

Getting involved with UNC’s Student Government Association (SGA) gives you the chance to represent your peers, build leadership skills, and make a real impact on campus. By joining as an officer, senator, or volunteer, you can advocate for important issues, promote wellness, and strengthen the connection between students, faculty, and staff. Graduate students can also engage with the Graduate Student Association(GSA) (link) which provides a dedicated platform to voice graduate-specific concerns, support professional development, and foster a strong graduate community.
