The Archives & Special Collections at the University of Northern Colorado collects, preserves and provides access to unique collections of institutional records, family and individual papers, books, and other primary resources. The collections are divided into three distinct areas:
The University Archives contains the historical records that document the growth, development and communities of the University of Northern Colorado.
Established in 1982, Special Collections supports the University's academic programs and its instructional and research interests.
The James A. Michener collection was created in 1978 when Michener donated thirty-seven linear feet of his papers to the University of Northern Colorado. Shortly before his death in 1997, James Michener designated the University of Northern Colorado the home of the bulk of his writing and publishing legacy.
Archives & Special Collections is located on the lower level of Michener Library.
