Level Up: From Console to Concert Hall
February 13 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$5 – $24

Please join us for LEVEL UP: From Console to Concert Hall at 7:30pm on Friday, February 13th in the Campus Commons Performance Hall. The Compass Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Dana Landry, will be performing a selection of music from your favorite video games, including Super Mario Bros., Pokémon, Kingdom Hearts, Super Mario Galaxy, Top Gear, Flying Dragon, and The Bird of a Thousand Voices.
The evening’s music has been arranged entirely by UNC Jazz faculty, alumni, and students whose work is guaranteed to top the leaderboards: Drew Zaremba, Tom Call, Jonathan Bumpus, Christian Longoria, Sidney Hollander, Cade Gutierrez, Diego da Silva, and Edward Moncada. This music combines cutting-edge big band performance with the excitement, fun, and nostalgia of each of these games.
All this fun can’t be contained in the concert hall alone – all are welcome to compete in a FREE Super Smash Bros. tournament before the concert beginning at 6:15 in the Campus Commons lobby. You and your friends can put your skills to the test leading up to this thrilling night of playful and action-packed music!
What’s more? All audience members are encouraged to join in the fun by dressing up as their favorite video game characters! LEVEL UP: From Console to Concert Hall is a musical celebration of our favorite video games. Whether you want to bask in nostalgia, enjoy this electrifying new music, or simply spend a relaxing evening with the award-winning Compass Jazz Orchestra, this concert has something for all players!
