Counseling Psychology
Pursue a Career in Counseling Psychology
This program trains students to become licensed doctoral-level psychologists. It has been accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 2010.
In this program, you will:
- Complete at least three years of classes and supervised clinical training, including a dissertation in Counseling Psychology
- Complete a one-year pre-doctoral internship
- Be prepared for a career as a professional psychologist, providing counseling, therapy, and research in many settings
Program Training includes:
- Individual, couples and family, and group counseling through practica in our on-site clinic, working under live supervision with community members and university students
- Psychological assessment, including courses in cognitive and personality testing, with optional courses to expand skills
- Research and evidence-based practice, with six required research courses and an option for a minor in applied statistics and research methods

Our program is accredited by the American Psychological Association. Students that complete our program are appropriately trained in health service psychology and meet the educational requirements to be eligible for licensure as doctoral level psychologists in the state of Colorado.
