Group Fitness Classes

 

Want to get active, feel good, and have fun doing it? Join a certified group fitness instructor for classes that fit your vibe—whether it’s strength, cardio, dance, or yoga. All fitness levels are welcome—no experience needed!

The FitPass is your all-access pass to every Group Fitness class all semester long—no limits, just movement.
  • Students: Purchase your FitPass at the Campus Rec front desk, online, or through the UNC Campus Rec App. Want to charge it to your student bill? Just fill out the Student Billing Form—easy!
  • Non-student members: Good news—your membership already includes Group Fitness access!

  • Class sizes are limited, so arrive 5 minutes early—it’s first-come, first-served.
  • No late arrivals, please. Once class starts, doors close to respect everyone’s experience and safety.
  • Bring your Bear ID Card. Your FitPass is linked to it. Swipe once at the Front Desk and again when you check into class. No Bear ID = no entry.
  • Prefer your phone? Use your Digital ID in the UNC Campus Rec App to register and check in!
Schedule a class, workshop, or special program with UNC’s Campus Rec Fitness and Wellness Program. These customized workshops include a certified instructor, a fitness presentation, and/or team-building activity. We will work with you on personalizing your experience.
To get started, you will need to complete the Campus Recreation Fitness and Wellness Outreach Form. Please provide your ideas and we will be happy to work with you to fulfill your request.

Personal Training: Your Goals, Your Plan

Reach your personal goals with one of our trainers! All trainers are UNC students and certified through nationally accredited associations.

Here’s how it works:
  1. Fill out the New Client Registration Form (button) to connect with a certified UNC student trainer.
  2. You’ll receive a free initial consultation to talk about your goals and choose the right package for you.
  3. Check out the Services & Rates section below to explore your options.
When it’s time to pay:
You can use cash, check, credit card, payroll deduction, or student billing—just pay at the Front Desk with your trainer.
Pro tip: Arrive on time, dressed, and ready to move so you get the most out of each session!

All sessions and services must be used within a year from the date of purchase. Personal Training services can be charged to your Student Bill or be Payroll Deducted for UNC Faculty and Staff.

Massage Therapy

Take a break and treat yourself to massage therapy—perfect for relieving stress, easing pain, and boosting energy.

Our licensed massage therapist offers a range of techniques tailored to your needs.

Available to the entire UNC community, with flexible packages to fit your schedule and budget.

Ready to book your massage? Here’s what to do:
  1. Email michael.zuhlke@unco.edu to start the conversation—no payment needed upfront.
  2. Once you’ve chosen your preferred session type and pricing plan, you’ll submit a Health Form and Informed Consent Form (via email or bring to your first session).
  3. Purchase your session(s) at the Front Desk—payment options include Cash, Check, Credit Card, Payroll Deduction, or Student Billing.
Before Your Session:
  • Arrive a few minutes early to change and get settled.
  • The massage therapist will greet you at the Campus Rec Front Desk at the start time.
Sessions begin on time—late arrivals won’t be extended.
No-shows without notice will count as a completed session.
We’ll set up communication expectations together before your first appointment—so everything runs smoothly for both of us!
Your massage will take place in a quiet, comfortable room inside the Campus Recreation Center—designed to help you relax and feel at ease.
Most massages are done with the client undressed, but it’s totally up to you—undress to your comfort level.
You’ll be professionally draped throughout the entire session to ensure privacy and comfort at all times.

Prices will vary depending on session length and membership status.

We offer a variety of massage techniques to support your personal wellness goals. Whether you’re looking to relax, recover, or relieve pain, we’ve got something for you.

Swedish Massage
A classic, full-body massage that helps you relax and feel re-energized. Your therapist will use long, flowing strokes—like kneading, tapping, and rolling—aimed at improving circulation and easing muscle tension. Oil or lotion is used to reduce friction on your skin.
Deep Tissue Massage
Looking for deeper relief? Deep tissue massage targets the lower layers of muscle and connective tissue to help with chronic pain, injury recovery, and inflammation. Often combined with other techniques, this style is more intense but very effective.
Hot Stone Therapy (+ $10 for 60-minute sessions)
Smooth, heated stones are placed on your body or used during the massage to release tension, improve circulation, and create deep relaxation. It’s a grounding experience that promotes both physical and emotional healing.
Neuromuscular Therapy
This technique focuses on restoring balance between your nervous system and muscular system. It targets spasms, trigger points, and postural imbalances to reduce pain, improve movement, and help your body function better.
Trigger Point Therapy
Designed to release “knots” and reduce pain at its source, trigger point therapy involves compression, gentle stretching, and therapist-client communication. It’s a focused approach that can help with myofascial pain and tight areas that refer pain elsewhere.
Prenatal Massage
A safe and soothing option for expecting parents, this massage helps relieve common pregnancy discomforts, ease strain, and support both emotional and physical well-being. Techniques are tailored to each stage—prenatal, labor, or postpartum.
Raindrop & Aromatherapy (+ $5 for 60-minute sessions)
This add-on uses essential oils applied along the spine to support relaxation, detoxification, and energy balance. With roots in both traditional and holistic practices, this gentle enhancement can help you feel more centered and refreshed.
