Health & Well-Being

You flourish, I flourish, UNC Flourish!

College can be overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to go through it alone. UNC staff are here to support your whole health and well-being. UNC Flourish is our commitment to helping every student grow, succeed, and truly thrive.

Your health, made easy—right on campus!

Our University Health Clinic provides convenient, on-campus access to confidential medical care. Medical staff provide drop-in care for treatment of illness and injury. We also offer gynecological and chiropractic care by appointment. We serve students and employees. If you have a health need, there’s a great chance we can either help or we can get you connected to someone else who can help. Most insurance accepted.

Feeling overwhelmed? You’re not alone. We are here to help

We all get overwhelmed sometimes, and if you need help getting through it, we’ve got your back. Visit Mental Health Support to learn about resources available to the community, including crisis support, and to receive training and guidance on how to support the well-being of your fellow Bears and reduce suicide risk. Professional staff at our on-campus Counseling Center offer free, confidential counseling to students—and to employees through the Employee Assistance Program. Crisis and drop-in hours are available Monday through Friday. Case management staff with our Student Outreach and Case Management Office can help with lots of challenges, including helping you connect with needed resources.

Food, Housing, and Other Essentials

Food and housing can be expensive–so are other essential needs like medical care, health insurance, childcare, transportation and course materials. If you’re struggling to get enough to eat, to have safe housing, or to meet any other essential need, come to our Center for Student Well-Being—where staff are committed to helping you meet your needs. Or check out our Bear Pantry and our other food support programs. Or perhaps you are unsure about how to meet your dietary needs when dining on campus? We have a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who can help!

Holistic Health and Wellness

The peer health educators and professional staff in our Office of Health Promotion are all about helping students learn and talk about sexual health, mental health, and alcohol and drug use. What’s a bedside box? They would love to tell you! They also help keep our Wellness Vending machines stocked on campus. Thinking about a career in healthcare? You might want to join the ranks of our peer health educators!

Recreation and the Great Outdoors

Our Campus Recreation Center is an amazing place to work out, play some hoops, swim, practice your rock-climbing, take a fitness class, or join an intramural team! What are you waiting for?  It’s free for students, so come on over!   Missing nature?  Check out some outdoor gear from Outdoor Pursuits or better yet, sign up for one of our outdoor trips!
