Bear to Bear

Become an Alumni Admissions Volunteer

Every year thousands of college-ready students are admitted to UNC. Help us welcome them to Bear Country by volunteering with UNC's admissions office.

Winter Volunteer Activity: Bear to Bear Note Cards

We are looking for alumni to share their best Bear to Bear advice as we welcome the next generation of students to UNC. Volunteering is a great way to connect and help UNC welcome the incoming undergraduate class.

Participation: We will send you a Bear to Bear packet that includes a list of admitted students, Bear to Bear cards, and pre-addressed and stamped envelopes. Write a card to each student on the list, then mail your cards through your local post office.

Time Commitment: We will send alumni Bear to Bear packets in January and ask that you complete and mail your card by February. The estimated time commitment depends on the number of cards that you sign up to write.

Next Steps: Complete the volunteer sign up form below. We are targeting Colorado and WUE locations but welcome other alumni from all locations. We will do our best to match you with a relevant list of students.

What to Write: Because students and families are interested in the ROI of a college education, each card includes the phrase "My career began in Bear Country." We encourage you to write a message that affirms the quality of UNC's career-ready education and sense of belonging found on campus.

UPDATE January 24: Thank you to all of our alumni, faculty and staff for signing up. We are matching volunteers with admitted student information and will distribute Bear to Bear packages soon.
