Student Showcase of Artists & Scholars
Save the date: April 9, 2026!

Honors Program
The University Honors Program is designed to foster outstanding students by providing a small community of intellectually-challenging peers with extra faculty attention and the tools to learn how to think critically and make connections between disciplines and then how to dive deep into today’s problems, issues and cutting edge research challenges.
UNC Honors Program is now accepting applications for Fall admission.
McNair Scholars
The Ronald E. McNair Scholars Research Program is a federal TRIO program designed to provide undergraduate students with effective preparation for graduate-level study through research and scholarly activities, summer internships, seminars and workshops, mentoring, and assistance with graduate school admission processes. McNair scholars are primarily first-generation college students with financial need and have demonstrated strong academic potential with an interest in graduate school.
Leadership Studies
Become a leader-scholar through an innovative, rigorous curriculum emphasizing theory and experiential learning.
Student Designed Major
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies enables undergraduate students to pursue an interdisciplinary theme of study they design in substitution for the traditional major. Each student pursuing this major works with two faculty advisors who assist in constructing a program of study that will meet the student’s objectives. This program affords students the opportunity to pursue topics of study tailored to meet their individual interests and needs.
Schulze Endowment
Robert O. Schulze served as Dean of UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences from 1972 until 1981 and was a Professor of Sociology here from the time of his arrival in 1972 until he retired in 1987. He was known and loved for his remarkable wit, buoyant humor, and academic passion. A strong believer in the importance of interdisciplinary work, he was instrumental in starting the Life of the Mind program as well as programs in Environmental Studies, Women’s Studies, Africana Studies, and Philosophy. He also supported the development of the University Lecture Series, which served as the precursor to the current Schulze Speaker Series.
