Program overview
Turn your passion for art, history, and culture into meaningful work that connects communities and ideas. This minor builds career-ready skills in curatorial practice, public history, and arts and cultural administration. You’ll explore how museums, galleries, cultural centers, and historic sites shape public understanding and engagement.
With a mix of shared and specialized coursework, you’ll link your studies in Art and Design, History, or Anthropology to real-world contexts through practicum and internship experiences — developing the professional insight, creativity, and hands-on experience to thrive across the arts and culture field.
This minor requires 18 credit hours:
9 required credits (ART 426 – Introduction to Curatorial Studies, ART 428 – Curatorial Administration and Leadership, and 3 credits chosen from a practicum or internship — ART 493, ANT 492, or HIST 492), plus 9 elective credits from a single focus track in Art and Design, Anthropology, or History.

Skills and Outcomes
Hands-on experience with collections, archives, and exhibit development, through a required internship or practicum at a museum, gallery, cultural center, or historic site. Graduate with real experience employers in the arts and culture field want — and a strong foundation if grad school in museum studies, public history, or archaeology is next.
