Minor Overview
The Art History minor unlocks thousands of years of visual storytelling—from ancient cave paintings to TikTok aesthetics. You’ll decode how images have shaped revolutions, defined beauty standards, sold ideas and built entire cultural movements. This is critical thinking through a visual lens, and it changes how you see everything.
This minor transforms majors in art, design, history, communication, marketing and beyond. Wherever you’re headed, understanding visual culture gives you an edge.

Explore Art Beyond the Classroom
The Art History minor takes you beyond the textbook and off the wall. Discover how art and design have shaped entire societies, sparked revolutions, defined identities and transformed the spaces we inhabit — from ancient civilizations to the digital revolution happening right now.
This isn’t passive observation. You’ll visit museums, work in galleries, conduct original research and debate ideas with faculty who are actively shaping the field. You’ll engage with art where it lives—in context, in conversation and in the real world.
Art and Design students take their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to the Denver Art Museum.
