Minor Overview

The Art History minor gives you a strong understanding of visual culture from ancient to modern times. You will study art and design in their social and cultural contexts and learn to think critically about how images shape the world. This minor pairs well with majors in art, history, design, communication, and other related fields.

The Art History minor requires 18 credits.

Core Courses (9 credits)

Complete all of the following:

  • ART 178: Ancient to Medieval Art History (3 credits)

  • ART 179: Renaissance to Modern Art History (3 credits)

  • ART 180: Contemporary Art History (3 credits)

Upper-Level Electives (9 credits)

Choose three upper-level art history courses:
