What to Expect
While students attend their sessions, families and supporters join their own activities. These include presentations, tours, and discussions about campus resources and student life. You will also learn ways to support your student’s success.
Why Participate?
You can see what your student’s UNC experience will be like. You will meet campus staff and connect with other families beginning their Bear journey.

New Student Orientation is your introduction to UNC and the resources, people, and opportunities that will help you succeed. Here are answers to common questions.
NSO may not be mandatory, but it is strongly encouraged for all new undergraduate students. It plays a key role in helping you transition to college and connect with your new community.
You’ll connect with other new Bears, learn about UNC traditions and resources, and explore ways to get involved on campus. You’ll also receive guidance to help you navigate your first semester successfully.
