University Councils
Learn about our different University Councils, who provide valuable feedback on reports and provide quality recommendations.
University councils are representative faculty committees as defined in Board Policy section 2-3-104(3). The Faculty Senate is empowered to receive and consider reports and policy recommendations from University councils.
University councils may recommend policies affecting the faculty and the University, adopt bylaws which shall govern their operations, and recommend rules and regulations which govern admission and degree requirements and the authorization and supervision of courses and curricula. University councils are described in Board Policy section 2-3-107.
University Councils
Undergraduate Council
The Undergraduate Council is a representative faculty council as defined in 2-3-104(3), Representative Faculty Committees, that is established to represent and act on behalf of the faculty in the governance of the undergraduate programs at UNC.

Liberal Arts Council
The Liberal Arts Council (LAC) represents, and acts on behalf of the faculty in the governance of the Liberal Arts Curriculum. The Council promotes the value of the study of the liberal arts as the foundation of learning for all UNC students, and works to ensure, through continuous assessment and improvements, that the core criteria continue to be met and that effective learning takes place in the core.

Graduate Council
The Graduate Council (GC) is a representative faculty council, as defined in 2-3-104(c),
Representative Faculty Committees of this constitution, that is established to represent and act on behalf of the graduate faculty in the governance of graduate programs in the
University.

Professional Education Council
The Professional Education Council (PEC) is a representative faculty council, as defined in
2-3-104(3), Representative Faculty Committees, of this constitution, that is established to represent and act on behalf of the Teacher Education Faculty in the governance of teacher education programs in the University.
