Symphonic Band & Concert Band

The UNC Symphonic Band is a large, audition-based ensemble dedicated to performing a wide range of significant wind literature. Under the direction of Dr. Fredrick Brown, the group focuses on refining technical proficiency and artistic expression through a mix of cornerstone band classics and contemporary compositions.

The UNC Concert Band is the university’s most inclusive instrumental ensemble. While music majors may use it to gain experience on secondary instruments, the group is primarily comprised of non-music majors from across the campus who wish to continue their musical journey in a supportive yet high-quality environment.
