Riley Sparks

Riley started working in the Dean of Students Office in January of 2024. Riley enjoys working at UNC because of the strong feeling of community, belonging, and pride that students have here at UNC, as well as being able to connect with students in educational and supportive opportunities. While studying German and International Studies at Colorado State University, Riley joined a student organization on campus (the National Residence Hall Honorary) and decided that he wanted to work within Student Affairs in the future to connect with students in meaningful ways. Riley studied College Student Personnel at Ohio University, while working in Housing as a Graduate Resident Director, and found the most meaning in his work being able to help connect students to resources and educating students on ways to support themselves and others around them in their community – thus leading Riley to working at UNC now!

Riley’s professional experience before working at UNC was serving as a Graduate Resident Director and Co-Advisor for the National Residence Hall Honorary at Ohio University. Since being here at UNC, Riley has facilitated various educational meetings and trainings for students in topics around Hazing Prevention, Bystander Engagement, and much more. Riley has received a certification for Hazing Prevention by engaging in the Hazing Prevention 101 Training through Prevent.Zone by AliveTek. Riley has also been a member of the Association of Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) since 2024.
