Research Expertise & Interests
Development of a Clinical Debriefing Guide focused on the Social and Structural Determinants of Health for use with Entry-Level Nursing Students
The purpose of this project is to develop and pilot test the framework for a clinical debriefing guide focused on the SSDOH for implementation in the BSN program post-conference setting. The guide is intended to enhance and adapt to additional clinical content discussed during post-conference such as disease processes, nursing diagnoses, prioritization of care, etc. Project supported by internally funded $10,000 fee.
Areas of Interest
Interest in the physiologic mechanisms underlying the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes and the role of prevention of these disorders by nurse practitioners and public health nurses. Also, interested in stress incurred by nursing students, clinicians and faculty and its relationship with job satisfaction, moral distress and burnout. Additional interest in simulation and other teaching pedagogy in undergraduate nursing education.
