Biography
Kay Piña is Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Northern Colorado. She holds a BA in music from Texas State University, an MM from University of Texas- San Antonio, and a PhD from Penn State in music education. You can find her work in the Journal of General Music Education, Teaching Music, Southwestern Musician, and the Voice and Speech Review. She presents frequently in national venues such as the American Eurhythmics Society, the American Orff Schulwerk Association, the Organization of American Kodály Educators, the Texas Music Educators Association, the Mountain Lake Colloquium, the International Conference of Dalcroze Studies, the National Association for Music Education- Music Research and Teacher Education, and the American Educational Research Association conferences. Kay taught general music and choir for 11 years in culturally and linguistically diverse schools in Central Texas. Kay is a past-president of the American Eurhythmics Society where she continues to serve as a Master Teaching Artist.
