International Fees

(Fall 2023/Spring 2024)

International Student Fees

Students with or applying for F or J visa status are assessed a $200 international student fee per term they are enrolled, excluding interim term, for the duration of their study at UNC.  This mandatory fee helps underwrite ongoing costs associated with providing international student immigration and retention services, including events and activities to support intercultural immersion programming and enhance academic and cultural exchange opportunities for students and UNC campus community as a whole.

F- or J- visa students whose primary tuition and fees are paid directly to UNC by a third party sponsor, such as a Cultural Mission, are assessed a $250 Sponsored Student Fee to support additional requirements imposed by those sponsors, including tracking and separate billing.

F-1 students applying for Optional Practical Training or extended Optional Practical Training based on a STEM degree are charged a one time administrative fee of $150 at the time of application to support ongoing immigration support for the duration of practical training.

Visiting Scholar Administrative Fee

International visiting scholars are assessed $250 administrative fee per term (or part of term) of their planned stay at UNC.  This mandatory fee helps underwrite ongoing costs associated with providing administrative support, immigration advising, and intercultural programming to enhance academic and cultural exchange opportunities for visiting scholars and UNC campus community as a whole.
