About Us
The CHE staff share a philosophy that "a student is never an imposition, but the sole purpose of our work." Our motto is, "Find your voice, tell your story."
Mission
The mission of the Center for Human Enrichment Student Support Services (CHE/SSS) program is to provide comprehensive academic services to support the academic, professional, and personal success of 200 identified and selected UNC first-generation college students. CHE’s values include:
- Supporting a safe environment, sharing ideas, and challenging assumptions
- Creating an environment that recognizes and celebrates each individual’s strengths, talents and contributions
- Encouraging personal initiative, risk-taking, and accountability
- Promoting the academic and professional growth of CHE program participants and staff
In addition, the Center for Human Enrichment (CHE) supports the University of Northern Colorado’s mission by helping to create and maintain a harmonious environment for the University’s students, faculty, and staff.
CHE program participants range in ages, come from different backgrounds, and include first year, continuing, and transfer students. They all have one thing in common; they are the first in their families to attend college. Our CHE participants overcome so many academic and personal challenges, yet they persist and succeed academically. They soon learn how their campus and community experience transforms them into professionals. Each CHE participant is unique and has his or her own story to tell.
