Presidential Search Update

We are writing to share an update on the presidential search, including the engagement of an executive search firm, the formation of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, and the anticipated process and timeline moving forward.

Dear Campus Community,

We are writing to share an update on the presidential search, including the engagement of an executive search firm, the formation of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, and the anticipated process and timeline moving forward. This update reflects our shared commitment to a thoughtful, transparent process that serves the long-term interests of the institution.

We are pleased to announce that the university has engaged Isaacson, Miller as its executive search partner. Isaacson, Miller brings extensive experience in higher education presidential searches and a strong national reputation for discretion and integrity. The firm will work closely with the Presidential Search Advisory Committee to manage candidate outreach and recruitment, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation throughout the process. This partnership allows us to draw upon established best practices while ensuring the search reflects the values, priorities, and culture of our institution.

The Presidential Search Advisory Committee has been formally appointed and includes a broad range of individuals representing both the university and the surrounding community. Committee membership includes representatives from the Board of Trustees, shared governance leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners.

The committee will conduct a comprehensive and confidential search and will recommend finalists who demonstrate exceptional leadership capacity and strong alignment with the institution’s mission and future direction.

The search process is now underway. Key phases include:

  • Development of a leadership profile and position description
  • Active recruitment and sourcing of candidates
  • Broad stakeholder listening and engagement
  • Screening and initial interviews
  • In-depth evaluation of semifinalists and finalists

The committee is committed to advancing the process efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of diligence and confidentiality. Consistent with the Board’s guidance, no more than three finalists will be recommended to the Board of Trustees, with delivery of those recommendations targeted for late fall.

For more information about the search process and committee membership, please visit the presidential search website, which will serve as the centralized hub for all official communications and updates.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement as we work to identify the next president of the University of Northern Colorado.

Sincerely,

Stephen “Steve” Jordan, Ph.D., Chair, Presidential Advisory Search Committee
Annette Martinez, Co-Chair, Presidential Advisory Search Committee
