Appointment of the Provost

President Feinstein announces the appointment of the new Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Nancy Marchand-Martella has been appointed as the next Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Northern Colorado, effective July 20.

Dr. Marchand-Martella will join UNC from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, where she currently serves as special advisor to the chancellor on faculty initiatives. She previously served as provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at UCCS and is a full professor in the College of Education.

She brings a strong record of leadership and a clear commitment to helping students, faculty, and universities succeed. Throughout her career, Dr. Marchand-Martella has focused on building strong academic programs, supporting student success, expanding online and flexible learning opportunities, strengthening transfer pathways, and helping more students complete their degrees.

Just as importantly, she is known as a collaborative leader who listens, builds trust and works with others to turn good ideas into action. I believe her experience, leadership style, and commitment to students make her an excellent fit for UNC.

As we welcome Dr. Marchand-Martella, I also want to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Kirsty Fleming, whose final day as Provost will be July 19. Dr. Fleming’s steady leadership, dedication to our academic mission and commitment to UNC have made a lasting difference. I am deeply grateful for her service and wish her the very best in her next chapter.

I also want to thank the Provost Search Committee, chaired by Harmony Newman, for its thoughtful and thorough work on behalf of the university. The committee listened carefully, engaged with our campus community, and helped identify a leader who is well prepared to serve UNC at this important time.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Marchand-Martella to the Bear community. I look forward to working with her, and with all of you, as we continue to strengthen UNC’s academic programs and create meaningful opportunities for our students.

Sincerely,

President Andy Feinstein Signature
