UNC Forward: Listening, Learning, and Looking Ahead

Interim President Haddad shares an update with the UNC community regarding UNC Forward.

Dear Campus Community,

As UNC Forward continues, I want to share an update on the themes emerging from our campus conversations. Over the past several weeks, faculty, staff, students, and administrators have engaged in thoughtful discussions about UNC’s future. While perspectives vary, several priorities have surfaced consistently: reimagining our identity, resetting our value proposition, expanding experiential learning and community engagement opportunities, increasing flexible learning modalities, strengthening enrollment and retention, and developing a bold marketing strategy that clearly communicates what makes UNC distinctive.

Perhaps most importantly, I have heard a strong desire for UNC Forward to result in meaningful action. While no decisions have been made, the purpose of this process is to identify opportunities, evaluate difficult choices, and establish a shared vision for the future.

I appreciate the candor, expertise, and commitment our campus community continues to bring to this work. As UNC Forward progresses, we will continue to share updates and opportunities for engagement. I encourage you to visit the UNC Forward website to learn more about the initiative and submit ideas, questions, and feedback through the online form.

Together, we are helping shape a future that honors UNC’s mission while positioning our university to thrive in the years ahead.
