Frequent Questions and Contacts
Alumni often call or email looking for information or resources, many of their questions are answered below. If you have a question and do not see an answer or cannot find the resource, then please reach out to the Office of Alumni Relations at (970) 351-2551 or alumni@unco.edu.
- How do I become a member of the alumni association?
The UNC Alumni Association is an inclusive, non-fee based organization, so you are a 'member' simply by being a graduate of UNC. Congratulations, that was easy!
Founded in 1965, the association has evolved closely alongside our university and we proudly say that "Once a Bear, Always a Bear."
- How do I get an official copy of my transcript?
Transcripts don't have to be tricky. Visit the UNC Registrar website to order a copy of your official transcript. You will need your Bear ID to create an account and complete the order. Look up your Bear ID online.
- How do I get a new diploma?
Original and duplicate diplomas are issued by the Registrar. If you need a copy, visit the Registrar's website and select "Reissued Diploma." You will need your Bear ID to create and account and complete the order. Look up your Bear ID online.
- Do you offer career assistance to alumni?
Yes. Alumni have access to a variety of resources through the Center for Career Readiness, some on campus and some online. Visit the UNC Alumni Association career programs and resources page to learn more about the resources that are available to you.
New grads: New graduates retain access to the full suite of career support services available through the Center for Career Readiness for three years.
- Do you offer scholarships to students and children of alumni?
Yes. We are proud to offer several UNC Alumni Association sponsored scholarships to current and future Bears. Like all UNC's scholarships, eligibility varies by scholarship and students need to complete the Universal Scholarship Application in order to be considered.
- I'm searching for a former classmate.
The power of your Bear Network is in your connections - made while a student and after graduation. If you need assistance locating a former classmate, then we can help. While our privacy policy restricts the release of personal information to third parties, we can forward your information and request to your classmate. Contact the Office of Alumni Relations for assistance at (970) 351-2551 or alumni@unco.edu.
- I need to update my contact information.
You can update your contact information online or by calling our office at (970) 351-2551 or email alumni@unco.edu.
- Do I have to be a graduate to purchase a UNC license plate?
No. Whether you're a Bear by degree or just one of our biggest fans, the good news is that you can participate in the UNC License Plate Program. Plates can be purchased from the state after you make a $50 donation to UNC's Colorado License Plate Quasi-Endowment Fund and receive a special plate certificate from our office. Join today by making a gift online or in person when you stop by the Judy Farr Alumni & Development Center.
- How can I support students at UNC?
UNC Bears are incredibly generous with their support and time. Join us in supporting current students with a gift to UNC or by becoming a volunteer. Get involved today.
- Do I have access to the UNC libraries?
Yes. Alumni living locally may access select resources from Michener Library. To receive a card, please bring a picture identification and 2 proofs of address to the library. Once setup, you may check out books, but not periodicals or journals. You may also access online resources from the library but not remotely.
- Do I have access to my bear mail?
Alumni retain access to their Bear Mail account for two semesters following graduating. We encourage all new graduates to create a professionally oriented personal email address and update their contact information and preferences.
- Will I receive an alumni survey?
Yes. The university's alumni survey is sent to alumni within one year from their graduation. You will receive an email invitation to complete the survey from the UNC Office of Assessment.
UNC relies on high quality data to tell our story regarding the quality and value of our degree programs. Our alumni survey is a particularly important source of data.
- Academic programs use alumni data for program monitoring and improvement
- Placement data helps to inform our accreditation reporting and review process
- National organizations such as U.S. News and World Report use alumni data to evaluate the relative value of our degree programs
- College and program level data helps students and their families make enrollment decisions.
