CETL Teaching Coaches
The CETL Teaching Coaches program celebrates and shares the teaching expertise of UNC faculty across campus. This initiative connects instructors with experienced peers who provide personalized support, pedagogical insight, and practical guidance on a wide range of teaching topics.
Thinking about trying something new in your teaching? Our coaches can help:
- College Teaching Coach — Talk through a new teaching idea, invite an outside observer for feedback on a class activity, or discover fresh learning resources.
- AI Teaching Coach — Explore how to weave generative AI into your course, get tips on talking with students about AI literacy, or gain confidence using this new technology.
- High-Impact Practices Teaching Coach — Get support adding undergraduate research, service-learning, or collaborative projects to create deeper student learning experiences.
New for this year, we are proud to introduce
College Teaching Coaches: Faculty representatives from each academic college who bring deep disciplinary knowledge and experience in teaching within their specific contexts. These coaches offer tailored support for colleagues in their colleges and help bridge pedagogical strategies with content-specific needs.
AI in Teaching Coach
The AI in Teaching Coach specializes in helping instructors use generative AI effectively and responsibly in higher education. This coach supports faculty with AI-enhanced course design, assessment, student engagement, and strategies to maintain academic integrity.
High Impact Practices (HIP) Coach
This coach serves as a dedicated resource for faculty who want to incorporate or strengthen High-Impact Practices (HIPs) in their courses, such as undergraduate research, service-learning, collaborative projects, and ePortfolios. The coach provides practical support to help make HIPs both feasible and impactful.
Through college meetings, one-on-one consultations, and unit collaborations, Teaching Coaches offer a flexible and peer-driven alternative to CETL’s traditional programming. Whether you’re exploring new teaching strategies, rethinking course design, or addressing classroom challenges, CETL Teaching Coaches are here to help.
