Assessment
Office
The Office of Assessment works with UNC faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders to provide leadership, collaboration, guidance, and resources for student learning assessment, and program review. We aim to promote a culture of reflective practice that leads to improved educational quality and equitable opportunities for student learning while serving as a national model for excellence in the ethical practice of assessment and evaluation.
Our Goals
- Guide and support fair and clear ways to check student learning.
- Help improve teaching, student programs, and learning tools.
- Build a culture of ongoing improvement across the campus.
How We Help
- Decide what students should learn.
- Make sure classes support those goals.
- Gather information on what students have learned.
- Use this information to improve teaching and programs.
- We help review courses, student services, and other programs.
- The review uses facts and past results to plan for the future.
We offer resources like Qualtrics (an online survey tool) and Canvas (course platform) to gather and track data.
We provide training sessions and small funding awards to help improve classes and programs.
