Welcome to summer at stryker!

As we head into summer here at Stryker we would like to wish everyone a restful and fun summer break, and to remind you that we are skeleton staffed during June and July so if you don't catch us, please come back or leave a message and we will get back to you soon. Those of you who will be attending summer classes are welcome to stop in and say hi, have lunch, or just hang out and study. We had a great academic year and are busy getting ready to bring in a new cohort in the fall. We are also looking forward to working with our new Graduate Assistant, Selani Flores who is busy training and will come on board as the Stryker GA with Jen Kennymore this fall. Ronda Stryker and former UNC President Hank Brown happily dedicate Stryker Institute to the University in the Fall of 2001.

The Stryker Institute for Leadership Development was launched at UNC in the Fall of 2001 with the generosity of the Ronda E. Stryker and William D. Johnston Foundation, and with firm support from the University itself. The Institute’s purpose is to advance the leadership development of talented students from under-represented groups of females such as ethnic persons, non-traditional aged students, and individuals with substantial financial need.

The Institute provides students with leadership seminars, an accompanying educational scholarship, opportunities to exercise their emerging leadership skills, and a sustained program of support.

Staff members associated with the Institute believe that students’ potential for leadership can be strengthened by recognizing the talents they already possess and challenging them to build on these talents.
