Student Activities
Office
The Office of Student Activities supports student engagement and leadership on campus. We oversee the Student Government Association, Fraternity and Sorority Life, University Program Council, and Student Clubs and Organizations. Our mission is to provide opportunities for students to get involved, develop leadership skills, and build a vibrant campus community.
Mission
We foster learning, development, and leadership experiences to empower students to be curious, passionate and engaged individuals, while cultivating welcoming spaces that encourage a more inclusive, informed, and involved community.
Vision
We achieve this mission by:
- Leadership Development & Experiential Learning: We provide students with opportunities to take on meaningful leadership roles—whether as council officers, event planners, peer educators, or organization presidents. Through these positions, students gain hands-on experience in decision-making, conflict resolution, financial management, and strategic planning. These leadership experiences cultivate curiosity and passion while preparing students for future professional and civic responsibilities.
- Inclusive & Welcoming Community Spaces: Our programs and organizations intentionally create spaces that bring together students from diverse backgrounds and identities. From student government town halls to multicultural council programs, and from campus-wide events to small student org meetings, we ensure every student can find a place where they belong. By embedding equity and inclusion practices into recruitment, programming, and training, we foster a campus culture that is more informed, welcoming, and socially responsible.
- Engagement Through Signature Events & Student-Led Initiatives: Through large-scale programs (concerts, Greek Week, Homecoming, cultural celebrations, leadership summits) and student-led initiatives (advocacy projects, philanthropic events, club programming), we connect students to one another and to the wider university. These experiences encourage involvement, build school spirit, and help students explore their passions in a supportive environment, ultimately strengthening their sense of belonging and engagement at UNC.
- Skill-Building for Lifelong Success: We design workshops, trainings, and experiential opportunities that intentionally build transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, event planning, cultural competency, and advocacy. Whether through officer training, risk management education, or student government leadership retreats, these programs help students grow into informed leaders who are prepared to contribute meaningfully both on campus and in their future careers.
Units
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) is a governing body dedicated to serving the students of UNC. It is composed of 23 members: 8 cabinet members and 15 senators (3 from each college at UNC). Members of other areas of campus also sit on senate including representatives from the Professional Administrative Staff Council, Faculty Senate, Classified Staff Council, and Graduate Student Association. Members of the SGA serve as advocates for students’ voices to the Administration, Board of Trustees, Shared Governance Groups and other campus groups.
University Program Council
The University Program Council (UPC) is a student fee funded organization that consists of five student coordinators and many volunteers. Each coordinator plans concerts, lectures, and special events just for students and the UNC community. UPC plans the best, most engaging and entertaining events for you! In order to do this, we need your input on our upcoming events. If it’s fun and exciting and you want to see it, let us know.
Fraternity and Sorority Life
Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Northern Colorado exists to foster growth and development among students while forming lifelong bonds through academic, personal, social and service-based programming. This is done through the Core Values of Integrity, Leadership, Personal Growth, Scholarship, Service, and Unity. Involvement in FSL gives students the opportunity to socialize, volunteer, succeed, and lead.
Student Clubs and Organizations
Student Clubs and Organizations (SCO) offers involvement, community, and leadership to all UNC students through Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) by providing advising, event funding, and leadership opportunities to current and prospective RSO members. Fostering engagement towards understanding one’s own values, identity, and culture is supported through Student Clubs and Organizations.
