School Groups
Register your ensemble for an impactful educational experience.
Open to all levels from elementary school through college/university and semi-professional groups, the festival hosts a wide variety of ensembles in a non-competitive environment. You can register your group in 1 of 4 categories: big bands, combos, vocal jazz groups, and vocal soloists. All groups receive recorded comments and a feedback clinic from some of our many clinicians (college big bands receive recorded comments only).
Each day, several hour-long workshops are presented by our artists, clinicians and UNC faculty on topics relating to jazz, including improvisation, solo jazz singing, arranging, jazz pedagogy, music business, rehearsal techniques and instrumental techniques. During workshops, students, community members and educators have the opportunity to interact with nationally renowned clinicians through music making and the sharing of historical and technical information about the great art form of jazz.
