Program Overview
UNC’s MBA is AACSB-accredited in both business administration and accounting, placing it among a select group of business schools worldwide.
The program prepares students for managerial roles across for-profit, nonprofit, and government organizations. Coursework blends theory with real-world decision-making, drawing on the academic and professional backgrounds of a faculty made up of scholars, executives, and practicing business professionals. Students build skills across every core business discipline — from finance and marketing to strategy and operations — with a consistent focus on ethical leadership and the realities of operating in a global economy. Because the program is open to students from any undergraduate background, no prior business degree is required to enroll.
Choose Your Concentration
Every MBA student completes the same non-credit foundation modules and 24-credit core, then specializes with 9 credits of concentration coursework plus 3 credits of general electives (General Business students instead take 12 credits of open electives in place of a fixed concentration). Each concentration is designed to build job-ready expertise in a specific business function.
Combine accounting fundamentals with data analysis skills to move into senior accounting, audit, or controllership roles — and build the skills to detect and investigate financial fraud.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. (Those who have completed a higher degree without ever receiving a bachelor’s — for example, a Pharm.D. — may still be eligible to apply.)
In addition, applicants must meet one of the following:
- A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in their most recent degree, with no work experience required, or
- A cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 in their most recent degree, paired with at least 3 years of professional experience.
Applicants who are still finishing their bachelor’s degree at the time they apply are evaluated on their current cumulative GPA, then must submit a final, official transcript showing their conferred degree and final GPA during their first semester. If that final GPA comes in below 3.0, the student will receive additional academic requirements to complete within one calendar year in order to stay enrolled.
All applications must include an updated resume. Students admitted with a GPA below 3.0 must complete academic provisions set by program faculty at the time of admission, within their first semester; the MBA program will notify these applicants of the outcome of that review.
Application fee: Waived for current UNC students and alumni (this waiver applies only to the UNC Graduate School application; a separate CAS application fee, where applicable, still applies).
Transcripts
Applicants must request one official transcript from every college or university where they earned a bachelor’s degree or higher (transcripts from UNC itself are not required). The Graduate School may request additional transcripts as needed, and applicants using VA education benefits must submit transcripts from every institution attended, not just those where a degree was conferred.
- Mailed transcripts (sealed, from the institution): Office of Admission, Campus Commons, 1051 22nd St, Campus Box 10, Greeley, CO 80639
- Electronic transcripts (sent directly by the institution): grad.applicationmaterials@unco.edu
- Scanned, PDF, or emailed transcripts sent directly by applicants are not accepted.
Submitted transcripts are retained by UNC for admitted students for up to five years after graduation or last attendance; transcripts from applicants who are not admitted or don’t complete their application are destroyed after one year. Applicants with international credentials should follow UNC’s separate foreign transcript requirements.
