Dean’s Welcome
Welcome to the University of Northern Colorado College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNC COM). We have formed a team of creative and compassionate faculty and staff with more than 200 years of combined experience in medical education to build our college and guide our students on their journey to becoming physicians who deliver patient-centered care, promote health equity, and positively impact the patients and communities they serve.
One of the core values of our college is community, a concept that encompasses multiple layers. Within the COM community, we are committed to creating a culture where everyone feels welcomed and supported. Working together we can foster opportunities for all within the COM, students, faculty, and staff, to contribute, learn, and grow.
UNC COM is a public college of osteopathic medicine and this connection, as well as our location on the main campus, presents a unique opportunity for collaboration across colleges. From inter-professional activities with our school of nursing through support of research initiatives, our university community is engaged and supportive of our efforts. As part of the UNC community, our students have access to resources such as the Michener Library, the University Health Clinic, and the Campus Recreation Center to support their academic, physical, and mental well-being.
As the third medical school in our state, we are committed to addressing the current and worsening physician shortage in our community, county and state by creating a college that will prepare our students to take on the challenges of clinical practice in an environment that provides an engaging educational experience as well as the support and mentorship that will allow our students to become the next generation of outstanding osteopathic physicians.
Sincerely,
Beth Longenecker, DO, MS, FACOEP, FACEP
