CARE Team Behavioral Threat Assessment

A training for faculty and staff is available

Kyle Ward, Ph.D., has partnered with the UNC CARE Team to offer a training opportunity for faculty and staff focused on Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management and on the CARE Team’s role in identifying and responding to concerning behavior within the campus community. This training is designed to strengthen awareness of behavioral warning signs, clarify reporting processes and provide practical guidance on how to respond to and refer situations that may require early intervention.

The training is delivered in an online, self-paced format and can be completed at an individual’s convenience. It is intended for all faculty and staff, regardless of prior experience with CARE or threat assessment processes. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how to recognize patterns of concern, when and how to submit a report and how the CARE Team collaborates with offices across campus to support students, faculty and staff.

As part of this initiative, participants will have the option to complete brief pre- and post-training surveys to help evaluate the effectiveness of the training. These surveys are voluntary, anonymous and take approximately 3–5 minutes to complete. Participation in the surveys is not required to complete the training.
